Cabin release notes

Every public release of Cabin, newest first, and what changed in it. Dates are the Google Play release dates. Builds that only ever went to internal testing are not listed here.

0.1.13, 19 September 2026

Cabin turns with your phone. It was locked to portrait before this. Now it rotates, and a tablet can use it in landscape.

Typing no longer hands the whole screen to Android's full-screen keyboard editor, so the conversation stays in view while you write.

Release builds are compiled with code shrinking for the first time, which roughly halves the size of the app's compiled code.

Two background audio services the app never used are gone, along with the media-playback permission that came with them. Cabin never used lock-screen controls and never recorded in the background. The microphone permission that voice typing needs is unchanged.

0.1.12, 17 September 2026

When a conversation turns to crisis, Cabin's reply stays still instead of playing the usual mood animation, and any helpline number in it is tappable.

Deleting your account now tells you what happens to a paid plan. If you bought through Google Play, Cabin warns you that deleting the account does not cancel the Play subscription, and gives you a button that opens Google Play so you can cancel it there. If you bought on the web, it tells you the plan will be cancelled and until when it runs.

The daily message limit docks at the bottom of the chat instead of covering the conversation, so you can still read what you and Cabin wrote.

Plans and pricing say in one line that paid plans renew every month and can be cancelled any time, with the longer explanation behind a "How billing works" section.

The safety screen before first sign-in asks you to confirm you are 18 or older before it lets you continue.

On Android, the billing text names only Google Play, which is where an Android purchase actually happens.

This went out the same evening as 0.1.10.

You can move between paid plans from inside Cabin. An upgrade takes effect straight away and you pay the prorated difference for the rest of the month you already paid for, and your renewal date does not move. A downgrade takes effect at your next renewal and charges nothing now.

If your subscription was bought on the other platform, the plan tiles say so and send you there instead of starting a second subscription.

The first public Android build where a plan can actually be bought. Before this the app could show the plans and not sell them.

Settings shows which version of Cabin you are running.

0.1.8, 8 August 2026

Conversations in your history get real titles. One with no title shows its date, "Chat · 12 Jul", instead of calling itself an empty conversation.

The screen stays awake while Cabin is open, so it does not go dark while you are reading a reply.

Photos are capped at 4 MB and large ones are downscaled when you pick them, so sending a picture straight from a phone camera works instead of failing.

The AASRA helpline number in the safety screen was wrong. It was a number AASRA does not operate. It is corrected to 022-2754 6669, and the list now leads with Tele-MANAS 14416, the free government line that answers in 20 languages.

Twenty more ambient tracks and twenty more time-of-day backgrounds, so each part of the day draws from fifteen of each instead of ten. That is the whole of this release.
