How we write

Editorial policy

This page explains, plainly, how the writing on this blog gets made: who writes it, how much of it is AI-assisted, who is accountable for it, and what it is not.

Who this blog is for

This blog is for anyone circling a decision they can't quite make, journaling to get a day out of their head, or trying to put a name to a feeling that won't sit still. It's practical, everyday writing, not a substitute for professional care, and not neutral about the product it supports (more on that below).

Two names, one team

Every article here is credited to Maya Raghunathan or Ravi Menon. Maya Raghunathan and Ravi Menon are pen names used by the Cabin team. They are not independent freelance writers or outside contributors, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. We write under two consistent names, rather than crediting "the Cabin team" on everything or swapping bylines around, because a reader deserves to see a specific name attached to a specific piece, and a specific name is what makes it possible to hold whoever wrote it accountable for getting it right. Each author's own page says the same thing again, in the same words: Maya Raghunathan, Ravi Menon.

How a piece actually gets made

Pieces on this blog are drafted with AI assistance and then edited by a person before anything goes live. A person picks the topic, edits the draft for accuracy and tone, checks any claim that needs checking, cuts what doesn't earn its place, and is accountable for what ends up published under the byline. We're not claiming a human writes every word from scratch with no AI involved anywhere in the process, and we're not claiming the AI's part is limited to spellchecking either; both of those would be misleading. The honest version is the one above: AI-assisted drafting, human editing, human accountability for the result.

What this is not

Nothing on this blog is medical, psychological or crisis advice, and nothing here should be read as a diagnosis or a treatment plan. If you are struggling or in crisis, please reach out to a professional or a helpline. In India: Tele-MANAS 14416 (24/7, free, 20 languages), KIRAN 1800-599-0019, or AASRA 022-2754 6669. Elsewhere, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line.

Corrections

If a piece gets a fact wrong, cites something out of date, or lists a helpline number that's changed, we fix it and note that it was corrected, rather than quietly editing it and letting it look like it always read that way. Small wording or clarity edits don't get a note; anything that changes what a piece actually claims does. If you think something needs a correction, contact us and tell us what looks wrong. We read everything.

Updated dates

Every article carries a visible "Updated" date, pulled from when it was actually last changed rather than set by hand. Articles get revised, not just left to sit, when something in them goes stale or stops being useful.

Why this exists

Cabin is the product this whole site is about, and this blog exists to support it. That means this isn't a neutral third party writing about a category it happens to compete in; it's the product's own blog, written by the team that builds it. We'd rather say that plainly, here, than have you find it out some other way.
